Serving as a medium for the Iconic

This body of work is an eclectic mix of portraits showcasing musicians, film stars, and historical figures.

 

I immerse myself in the chosen subject, learning as much of each as possible. This is accomplished by listening, viewing, reading and, most importantly, interpreting what they meant to me and to the public.

 

The portraits are rendered in a style that is expressionistic semi-abstraction, easily recognizable but uniquely created. The colour palette is wide-ranging, chosen and painted from the heart. To me, the colour, style and presentation is that which best reflects the essence and being of the individual I capture with these homages to special talents and personas.

All my pieces are painted on 1/2" Komacel (High dentisty plastic). Komacel is most commonly used for exterior signage. Most of the time I can up-recycle the Komecel from discarded signage. I cut all pieces to my preferred size on a CNC machine.
